Pre-Nursery children at a round table with their tiffin boxes

Your child's first years at school set the pattern for everything after. This is how the Primary Section works.

The Primary Section teaches children from Pre-Nursery to Class IV. It meets from 6.45 am to 10.50 am, Monday to Friday.

What children learn

Bengali or Hindi, English, Environmental Studies or Science, Arithmetic or Mathematics, Computer, History and Geography, with games, singing, drawing and craft.

The school day

The day begins with the chanting of Vedic hymns at the morning prayer assembly. After the first two periods comes a fifteen-minute tiffin break. The children chant the Bhojan Mantra and then eat the healthy tiffin they bring from home, as the school encourages. Three more periods follow.

Uniform

The school uniform is compulsory from Lower Nursery to Class IV. It is a chocolate-coloured knee-length skirt or shorts, with a beige shirt bearing the school monogram, half sleeves in summer and full sleeves in winter.

In winter, children add a chocolate-coloured pullover, with leggings for girls and full trousers for boys, and a chocolate-coloured scarf and cap.
